Wait Watchers

PFaD (I love it Karin) is in a funk.

If you read www.pieceofiron.blogspot.com you know I spent 2009 creating an ironman. That is my current frame, a 165 lb. endurance robot. But like Ironman in the movies, I need to be able to fly. 7 years ago I weighted 145 lbs., I wasn't as strong, played a ton of basketball, and a couple times touched the rim.

I need to know if the added 20 lbs. is weighing me down.

  1. Well, after some calculations, I've got some wacky stats.

The difference is pretty much 0.0647728 Calories per jump. It takes around .47 Calories for a 145lb man to jump that high, and .534 Calories for a 165lb man.

And if that number was just too little small for you, here's a better one.

It takes 1965.9 joules for a 145lb man. It takes 2237 joules for a 165lb man. Assuming you take half a second to push off for the jump, that's 4474 WATTS. You're like the brightest lightbulb there. (the 145lb man is only at like 4000 watts.)

But, don't get too excited, cause that means you'd have jump 270,451 times to generate enough power to send Doc Brown's DeLorean back in time.

So, simple answer, it takes about ten 60 watt lightbulbs more effort.
