Bulletin Board Material
Déjà vu
This is my neice trying to jump. And I am just praying this isn't something you would mistake for a dunk attempt of mine. You can slip a piece of paper under my feet when I jump so I got that going for me... which is nice. Audrey, one day you will show them.

2009-2010 Season
Let's get it started. The most interesting move in the offseason? Shaq to Cavs, VC to Magic, Artest to LA, can PFUNK-a-DUNK dunk? This season is going to be awesome. Here is how I am attacking the issue at hand. I have a 4 part plan and I just finished the first quarter.
The first 3 months my goal has been to get back into basketball shape. Playing bball, getting use to quick bursts, and jumping.
2nd Quarter (Nov-Jan) I'm going to focus specifically on my legs and my spring. Lots of jumping and repetition to get my body thinking vertically.
3 Quarter (Feb-April) I'm going to hopefully be able to fly. I am going to build on my legs, but focus on getting a little extra from my upper body to gain a bit more power on the lift.
4 Quarter (May-July) All about the funk. Each day you are gonna have to ask yourself, is today a PFUNK-a-DUNK day? Attempt after attempt, just going for one clean slam.

Grounded
I am healed. I have full range of motion back in my elbow and soreness is all that is left of my injury. In my last, sadder than usual, attempt to dunk I gained the knowledge of the importance of the "upward swinging arms" (As the Daver had commented was nearly as vital as the jump).
Being grounded for the past 2 weeks made one detail stand out. Even when I was training hard for more spring in my jump, I don't jump enough in my regular day. If you think about it, you can go weeks without having to jump. You can use a ladder or step stool to reach top shelf items, but the need to push off the ground and lift your body airborne to achieve something is not found in daily adult life. A child is always jumping to see above something or reach something, but adults have had everything built for their ease of use in daily activities.
It has taken me close to 3 months to get the spring back in my step, just by getting back into basketball, and now I am about to start jumping... a lot.

October Attempt
In pre-game warmups I was very sure I was not going to be able to dunk it. Then I remembered that is why most are watching. I have a hurt wing and it needs to heal before I can fly.

Hurting
I hate being hurt. But, do I hate being hurt more than I like playing pick-up basketball? I've recovered 94% of the motion in my elbow, but it is still super sore. However, this weekend I will attempt to dunk... attempt to PFUNK-a-DUNK.
